Fitting tips
Measure once. Fit forever.
How the Royal Creation tailor takes numbers in the Surat atelier — use the same steps at home.
- Stand straight, feet together, arms relaxed at your sides — do not suck in your stomach.
- Use a soft tailor’s tape; keep it parallel to the floor for bust, waist, and hip.
- Measure over the bra or innerwear you will wear with the blouse — cups change bust by ½–1 inch.
- The tape should sit snug against the body: you should fit one finger under it, not two.
- Ask someone to help with shoulder, back neck, and sleeve — solo numbers run short.
- Record every number to one decimal (e.g. 34.5). Our Surat tailor works in inches.
- Between two chart sizes, size up for dance, aarti, and full-day wear.
- Stitch-to-measure uses your saved account numbers; ready sizes use the charts below.
- Embellished or padded blouse styles may need +0.5 inch ease on bust — note it for the tailor.
- Petticoat waist is where the drawstring sits, not your natural waist if you wear it higher.
Measurement FAQ
How do I measure for a saree blouse at home?
Use a soft tape over fitted innerwear. Measure bust at the fullest point, waist at the natural waistline, shoulder seam-to-seam, sleeve from shoulder to desired length, front and back neck depth, and blouse length from shoulder to hem. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
Should I use inches or centimetres for the tailor?
Our Surat atelier reads inches. You can measure in centimetres on this page — we convert when you save measurements to your account. Always note one decimal place for precision.
What if I am between two blouse sizes?
Size up for comfortable movement, especially for weddings and festive wear. For a close couture fit, choose stitch-to-measure and save your exact numbers in your account.
Do I need separate measurements for petticoat and lehenga?
Yes. Petticoat needs waist (drawstring line) and length. Lehenga uses blouse + skirt measurements — bust, waist, hip, and skirt length. Use the garment tabs on this page for each set of points.
Can the Royal Creation tailor stitch from my saved measurements?
Yes. Save bust, blouse length, shoulder, sleeve, neck depths, and petticoat sizes in your account, then add “Stitch my blouse” on the saree product page. Custom-stitched pieces follow those numbers.
